Covid-19 Lunch Program Letter Winter 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We regret to inform you that as of Friday, November 27th, 2020 the Valour Community Centre Lunch Program will be temporarily closing.

Due to rising Covid-19 case numbers in Winnipeg, several of our staff who have underlying health problems have expressed concern about working with a large number of people and will be taking a temporary leave of absence. As a result we are unable to safely staff our program.

The number of children in our lunch program has decreased. Parents are understandably concerned about sending their children to school and are keeping them home, or they have been laid off and do not need care at the moment. When registration decreases so does our ability to pay our staff. This is another reason why we can’t stay open right now.

We want all our families to know that this was not an easy decision and that we have tried every plan we can think of to avoid closing. We know that this is a huge inconvenience and we are really sorry.

Currently, our plan is to re-open when school re-opens after the Christmas holidays. We are hoping that the case numbers will be low enough by then that our staff can safely return to work and our enrollment will be back to normal.

Any changes or updates to this plan will be posted on both our website and Facebook page.

Thank you,

Staff
