Covid-19 Update: Ice Rinks 2021

Hello West End,

We have great news! Our rinks are ready for the community to use!

We apologize for the delay in getting them up and running this year. Due to COVID we wanted to be sure that we had all the guidelines and signage in place before opening them. We are very grateful to our ice guy as he works full time and has spent many of his evenings and weekends flooding the rinks for us. It has not been easy with the weather being so warm and as a result the ice is not as thick as it typically is this time of year. He has asked that when you are out skating that you watch for bumps as he has not been able to smooth them all out.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide an indoor space to change into your skates, but there are benches by the rinks at both sites to make it a bit more comfortable. Our Orioles site has lighting in the evening as those lights are on a timer. We are working on getting the lights at our Clifton site put on a timer but for now there is no lighting there after dark.

The following is a list of rules from Public Health that we ask all community members to follow when using our rinks.

  1. People who are skating MUST maintain a separation of at least two metres from others unless they are from the same household.
  2. People MUST NOT engage in activities as part of a group of more than five people unless they are from the same household.
  3. Organized practices, games or outdoor sporting competitions of any kind are not permitted.

By-law officers WILL enforce these rules.

We hope that you are able to get outside and enjoy this awesome weather that we’ve been having!

Stay safe!
